Disability Rights Mississippi (DRMS) recently announced its comprehensive online database, the Mississippi Community Resource Directory, found at www.mscrd.org. This user-friendly database, designed for use by individuals with disabilities and those who support them, is searchable by subject, county, or key words. It includes brief description of the services provided by the groups listed, along with links to relevant web pages. Feedback on directory entries can also be made directly on the site.
The American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry (AADMD) was organized in 2002 to provide a forum for healthcare professionals who provide clinical care to people with neurodevelopmental disorders and intellectual disabilities (ND/ID). Our mission is to improve the quality of healthcare for individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders and intellectual disabilities. The site is an excellent resource for healthcare providers caring for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The website gives doctors guidance in how to interact with patients and assess their physical health and behavioral issues. The site provides checklists for problems associated with specific diagnoses such as Down syndrome. It also is intended to be a resource for people with intellectual disabilities and their caregivers, who can share the guidelines with physicians or follow the tips for communicating with medical professionals.
